Governance & Management: Officers and Board of Directors: Amanda Shechter, President; Robin Kessler, Executive Director, supervises a professional staff of over 100 full and part-time employees
Location: Magnificent 11.5-acre site in East Brunswick on the site of the Center’s summer camp
Proposed Facility: Environmentally sensitive LEED-certified 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility that will be the newest Community Center in New Jersey and featuring traditional and innovative programs and facilities
Communities Served: East Brunswick, New Brunswick, South Brunswick, South River, Milltown, Edison, Metuchen, Highland Park
Projected Membership: 3,500 families and individuals
Architect: Peter Biber Associates, of Summit, New Jersey, one of the nation’s most respected architects of community centers
Timing: groundbreaking tentatively set for mid 2009; construction will take 18-24 months
Program Highlights:
Complete health and recreational facilities, including 2 indoor swimming pools, lockers, sauna, family changing rooms, full size gymnasium, fitness and holistic center, aerobic, dance and spinning studios;
Cultural programs highlighting art, music, theater, film and a children’s performances; Jewish Enrichment and Holiday Celebrations;
Social and educational opportunities, including lifelong learning activities;
Excellent programs for infants, toddlers, and pre-schoolers;
Teen and Pre-teen Center;
Senior Center offering educational, social and Kosher meal programs;
Community meeting rooms;
Special needs programs for children and adults
Construction Cost: $18 million estimated
